eBIKE RIDES

We don't have dedicated bike paths in Buena Vista, however, there is still a lot of beautiful riding to do on our back roads.  Our customers have 3 favorite rides in Buena Vista:

1. North through the Midland Rail tunnels - a beautiful ride north of town (great for beginner riders) and families.   Downloadable Map, here.

2. For our intermediate riders CR 375 (in the FourMile Recreation Area) is a fun and scenic ride. This trail is highlighted to the right of CR 371.

3. Out to Cottonwood Lake - fun ride for intermediate riders. We will lay out a scenic for you route that bypasses most of the highway and takes you to the beautiful Cottonwood Lake. Pack a lunch and enjoy it at one of the lakeside picnic tables!

eBike Etiquette

Bike manners on trails and roads are key for eBikes to continue to be allowed. They are fairly new to Buena Vista and we want to set a good precedent!

  • Respect Private Property

Respect Private Property and do not tresspass. Most places will be gaurded with a gate or signage so please be aware and avoid these areas.

  • Be Cautious With Your Dogs while riding.

Be Cautious With Your Dogs while riding. When riding the e-bikes take into account that they can get up to 20 mph and your dog may not be able to keep up so leaving them at home may be the best option. If you do decide to bring your furry friend be aware there is a lot of wildlife as well as other people with pets in the public land areas so be sure to have your dog on a leash.

  • Be Prepared

Be Prepared for changing weather, terrain, and long stretches of road without access to a restroom, water, or food. If you are going on a longer ride be sure to bring a backpack with all your forseeable needs for the day. If you have concerns about what you should be bringing give us a call at the shop to talk with one of our experts. There is no law requiring helmets but it is highly recommended and we provide a helmet with every bike.

  • Other Bikers, Cars, and Pedestrians

Other Bikers, Cars, and Pedestrians will be present on most of the recommended roads and trails.

Make sure to leave room for the people on the left of you and for pedestrians walking. Make sure if you are going to pass pedestrians or bikers to check around you for other bikers and pass on the left and then return to the right. If you are going to pass pedestrians or bikers make sure to warn them that you are passing on their left.

While you are riding, remember to ride single file as far to the right of the road as you can. Be mindful of traffic and alert the members of your group of a car approaching from behind.

There is no law requiring helmets but it is highly recommended and we provide a helmet with every bike.

  • Stay on Designated Routes

Stay on Designated Routes as to not disturb our valleys natural beauty. If you have to step off the trail for any reason, do not ride in the foliage to keep going. We want to keep the surrounding nature pristine!

  • Wildlife is wild!

Wildlife is wild! Please do not bother wildlife if you see them on trails, especially elk or moose. They are wild and can hurt you if you come too close. This is especially relevant with animals with young or when rutting season is happening in the fall. Don’t get close to wildlife or feed them. Also, do not ride in foliage or pick the flowers!
